Do I need to switch my BRP to work with Stelmo?
No, absolutely not. Stelmo is completely BRP-independent, so you’re never locked into one specific setup.
A Balance Responsible Party (BRP) is legally responsible for maintaining the energy balance at a grid connection. Many traditional aggregators require customers to switch to their designated BRP structure, which can create unnecessary administrative work and even conflict with existing contracts. Thanks to our flexible software architecture and the broader capabilities of Strado Group, Stelmo works seamlessly with your current BRP or energy supplier of choice.
We already have an EMS. Can Stelmo still add value?
Absolutely. Stelmo doesn’t replace your EMS, it makes it smarter.
A standard Energy Management System monitors and controls local energy flows based on predefined rules (e.g. “Charge the battery when the sun is shining.”). What’s often missing is the real-time link to dynamic imbalance prices. Through our open API, we enrich your existing software with academically validated data flows and highly accurate forecasting. In other words: your EMS keeps doing what it does best, while Stelmo makes sure every control decision is made as cost-effectively as possible.
Does Stelmo support flexibility services such as FCR, aFRR, and mFRR?
Yes. Our universal control signal is designed to meet Elia’s strict response-time requirements.
FCR, aFRR, and mFRR are balancing services used by Belgian grid operator Elia to keep the electricity system stable. Qualifying assets for these markets requires a reliable end-to-end setup and extremely fast response times. As part of Strado Group, we control the full value chain ourselves. That allows our signal to handle both fast-response FCR frequency control and restoration reserves such as aFRR and mFRR with the speed and precision these markets demand.
